Videos That Will Make You Never Want Sugar Again

I'm participating in health coach Persephone Brown's 3-day sugar cleanse "Kicking Sugar's Sweet Ass."

Day One was super easy. I stayed home and minded my business most of the day. I did laundry and watched nutrition videos. Easy. Also, I'd been eating ample supplies of sugar in the form of cookies, brownies, chocolate, and other treats over the holidays. It was nice to have a day off!

Today is Day Two. I have to actually go outside and interact with people. I have to write. I usually have at least some honey in my tea or a snackypoo with coffee to look forward to. Today there is nothing.

I think my inner child may have heard rumor that we won't be having Blue Bicycle Bakery's yummy treats at Coffee Exchange later today. She's upset. I'm sipping plain yerba mate for strength to deal with her tantrum.

I'm also nibbling on homemade roasted seaweed snacks. (Truth be told, they're kinda vile. Still, the salt keeps me coming back for more. Will it be enough to make me forget about sugar?)

The second part of the plan is to scare Little Livi straight with videos I watched last week as part of the health coach training program's weekly lesson. They were my motivation for cutting out casual consumption of sugar in the first place.

First, this one that is just as adorable as it is sad.

Then there's this funny video that highlights how far you have to walk to burn off a 20 ounce soda. I don't drink soda, but geesh! I'm sure I've eaten that much sugar in doughnuts before.

And of course, this clip of Jack Lalanne on "sugarholics."  Love that guy!

Finally, if things really get outta hand, I'm going to watch this superlong viral video, Sugar: The Bitter Truth, which makes it clear how toxic sugar is for our bodies.

Of course, there is also the option to focus on something else like dancing, doodling, giving the dog a much needed bath, and studying. It is ultimately why I'm doing this. I want to shift my attention from something that is harming me and joyfully focus on things that make me feel free and healthy.

Have you ever done a sugar cleanse?
